Circle of Roses Award |
The Circle of Roses Award is an acknowledgement to an individual or a group of individuals who have made a difference in the lives of those living with HIV/AIDS. As the Saint Therese Center began the fundraising event called the "Circle of Roses" it was decided upon to honor those individuals or groups with an award thus acknowledging the good that is being done in the HIV community. As the Saint Therese Center is lauded for its current work in the community it has been felt that there was a need to acknowledge the past as well as the present at the evening's events. Each year the Saint Therese Center chooses from the past and the present, individuals and groups who give so generously of their time talent and treasure for those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. The award itself is a glass award etched with the name of the recipient and the phrase "Experience the Little Flowers in Life - reaching out to all those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS" It features a circle of roses with rose petals falling from the wreath. This is a reminder that Saint Therese (the Little Flower) promised to spend her life in heaven by doing good on earth allowing a shower of roses to fall where that good was done. The individuals and groups who receive this award have been instrumental in facilitating that shower of roses and thus the rose petals fall through the award as a reminder. |
